Dixon is a town located in Sanders County, Montana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 216.

Geography Dixon is located at 47°18'42" North, 114°20'28" West (47.311611, -114.340983)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 17.9 km² (6.9 mi²). 17.2 km² (6.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.91% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 216 people, 89 households, and 54 families residing in the town. The population density is 12.6/km² (32.5/mi²). There are 93 housing units at an average density of 5.4/km² (14.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 75.46% White, 0.00% African American, 20.37% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 4.17% from two or more races. 1.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 891 households out of which 29.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.1% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% are non-families. 31.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.43 and the average family size is 3.07.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 20.4% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.5 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $15,455, and the median income for a family is $23,750. Males have a median income of $28,750 versus $16,250 for females. The per capita income for the town is $11,379. 35.9% of the population and 19.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 45.5% are under the age of 18 and 22.2% are 65 or older.
