Diboll is a city located in Angelina County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,470.

Geography Diboll is located at 31°11'10" North, 94°47'7" West (31.186060, -94.785395)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.5 km² (4.8 mi²). 12.4 km² (4.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.42% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 5,470 people, 1,424 households, and 1,107 families residing in the city. The population density is 440.9/km² (1,141.9/mi²). There are 1,582 housing units at an average density of 127.5/km² (330.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 53.67% White, 24.13% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 19.40% from other races, and 2.16% from two or more races. 37.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,424 households out of which 43.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.4% are married couples living together, 19.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.2% are non-families. 20.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.08 and the average family size is 3.57.

In the city the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 33.8% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 132.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 143.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $28,183, and the median income for a family is $31,524. Males have a median income of $29,156 versus $18,324 for females. The per capita income for the city is $10,707. 26.0% of the population and 24.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 34.4% are under the age of 18 and 17.6% are 65 or older.
