Dial-up access

Dial-up access is a form of internet connection in which the client uses a modem to dial the ISP's dial-up phone number, and protocols such as the PPP protocol are used to establish a modem-to-modem link, which is then routed to the internet.

One very low cost dial up provider is the freenet, which is run by volunteers. In los angeles it is http://www.lafn.org
