Department of Internal Affairs:
New Zealand's oldest government department. Formed in 1840 as the Colonial Secretary's Office and gained present name in 1907.
Presently, major services include:
- Birth, death and marriage registration and name changes
- Gaming enforcement and lottery grants
- Censorship enforcement
- Citizenship grants and passport issue
