Dayton is a town located in Lake County, Montana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 95.

Geography Dayton is located at 47°51'54" North, 114°16'37" West (47.864979, -114.276835)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 95 people, 48 households, and 28 families residing in the town. The population density is 67.9/km² (177.0/mi²). There are 100 housing units at an average density of 71.5/km² (186.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.68% White, 0.00% African American, 3.16% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 3.16% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 48 households out of which 8.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% are married couples living together, 0.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.6% are non-families. 31.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.98 and the average family size is 2.45.

In the town the population is spread out with 8.4% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 17.9% from 25 to 44, 45.3% from 45 to 64, and 24.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 54 years. For every 100 females there are 86.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.3 males.
