In Greek mythology, Dardanus ("burner up") was a son of Electra and Zeus. He married Batea, daughter of King Teucer. He received from his father-in-law land near Abydos. He was known primarily for founding the city of Dardania, an earlier name for Troy. He also sailed, on a hide-raft, from Samothrace to Troas[?].
