Daggett County, Utah

Daggett County is a county located in the U.S. State of Utah. As of 2000, the population is 921. It was named for Ellworth Daggett, first Surveyor General of Utah. Its county seat is Manila6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,873 km² (723 mi²). 1,809 km² (698 mi²) of it is land and 64 km² (25 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.42% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 921 people, 340 households, and 240 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km² (1/mi²). There are 1,084 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 94.57% White, 0.65% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.39% from other races, and 1.52% from two or more races. 5.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 340 households out of which 27.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.90% are married couples living together, 4.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.40% are non-families. 25.90% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 3.02.

In the county, the population is spread out with 23.20% under the age of 18, 8.90% from 18 to 24, 27.40% from 25 to 44, 27.00% from 45 to 64, and 13.50% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 125.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 132.60 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $30,833, and the median income for a family is $41,484. Males have a median income of $35,938 versus $21,583 for females. The per capita income for the county is $15,511. 5.50% of the population and 4.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.60% are under the age of 18 and 1.60% are 65 or older.
