Cultigen

Cultigen is the name for organisms, especially cultivated plants, such as a banana, not known to have a wild or uncultivated counterpart[?].

It is a cultivated species which was domesticated (grown and selected by people) from so far back in antiquity[?] and has undergone such drastic transformation under prehistoric human selection that its ancestry is unknown, this is, that nothing like it exists in the wild.

Etymology: culti(vation) + generated.
