Redirected from County Wicklow
Wicklow is also the name of the town of Wicklow, which is the capital town for this county. In irish, Wicklow is Cill Mhantáin.
Wicklow is also 'the last county' as it was the last to be recognised. Wicklow had the 'military road' built through it to provide quick access to the British army so they could gain quick access to the hotbed of Irish rebellion that existed in the Wicklow Mountains right into the 19th centuary.
It is known as "The Garden of Ireland". The ancient Glendalough monastery is located in county Wicklow.
