Cottonwood is a town located in Douglas County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 931.

Geography Cottonwood is located at 39°33'34" North, 104°48'2" West (39.559498, -104.800579)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²). 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 931 people, 336 households, and 271 families residing in the town. The population density is 408.5/km² (1,056.4/mi²). There are 340 housing units at an average density of 149.2/km² (385.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 91.73% White, 1.18% African American, 0.86% Native American, 1.07% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 3.33% from other races, and 1.72% from two or more races. 6.66% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 336 households out of which 50.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.5% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.3% are non-families. 13.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.77 and the average family size is 3.04.

In the town the population is spread out with 31.3% under the age of 18, 4.1% from 18 to 24, 58.3% from 25 to 44, 5.6% from 45 to 64, and 0.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 105.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $64,013, and the median income for a family is $64,605. Males have a median income of $51,693 versus $30,500 for females. The per capita income for the town is $23,179. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
