Cordite

Cordite is an explosive made from nitrocellulose mixed with nitroglycerin.

Cordite is capable of expolosive combustion and often used as a propellant in gun cartridges. It was discovered by Sir James Dewar of Scotland, though patent rights were vigorously contested by Alfred Nobel.
