Congregation is a grunge album by Afghan Whigs, released in August of 1991 (see 1991 in music). In spite of substantial criticism from some purists who saw the band's sound as watered down, the album has been remembered as a classic grunge album that was ignored in the shadow of releases from giants like Pearl Jam and Nirvana.
