The Committee to Re-elect the President was a White House organization headed by John Mitchell, the former attorney general. G. Gordon Liddy and E. Howard Hunt were members of CREEP who were involved in the Watergate break-in. CREEP funds, to the order of $500 000, were used to pay off the Watergate burglars after their indictment in September 1972.
