Coke

The word coke when used alone, has several possible meanings in the English language.

The term "coke", when used by itself can refer to:

  • In industrial chemistry, coke refers to a type of refined coal. It is used to make pig iron as part of the steel-making process.
  • In modern English slang, coke is a term for cocaine.
  • Coke is a common abbreviation for Coca-Cola, and claimed by the company as a trademark, since 1945. Coca-Cola originally included coca as an ingredient (hence the name "coca cola").
