Clyde is a city located in Cloud County, Kansas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 740.

Geography Clyde is located at 39°35'30" North, 97°23'52" West (39.591694, -97.397833)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 740 people, 319 households, and 200 families residing in the city. The population density is 426.4/km² (1,101.4/mi²). There are 377 housing units at an average density of 217.3/km² (561.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 99.73% White, 0.00% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 319 households out of which 25.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% are married couples living together, 4.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.0% are non-families. 34.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 24.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.23 and the average family size is 2.88.

In the city the population is spread out with 23.1% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 20.1% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 29.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 85.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $31,343, and the median income for a family is $39,167. Males have a median income of $29,286 versus $19,063 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,852. 4.5% of the population and 1.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.9% are under the age of 18 and 8.3% are 65 or older.
