Clandestine

Clandestine is an album by Scandinavian death metal band Entombed, released in 1991 (see 1991 in music). One of the pioneering recordings of early death metal, Clandestine helped establish a distinctively Swedish sound in the musical genre. More accessible than its predecessor, the atonal debut Left Hand Path[?], Clandestine was hailed upon its first release as the future of death metal. While Entombed's later influence is enormous, many critics and fans feel that the follow-up, Wolverine Blues[?], was too mainstream and cite Clandestine as the best LP by the group. Largely written by drummer Nicke Andersson[?], the album's slowed-down speed metal rhythms have remained perhaps the most important innovation on the album.
