Civil Code of Quebec

Civil Code of Québec (1992). A complete reworking of the Civil Code of Lower Canada first written and adopted in 1866 before the Confederation of Canada in 1867 with the passage of the British North America Act by the English Parliament.

The Civil Code of Québec was one of the largest legislative undertakings in a civil law jurisdiction to modernize the structure of the Civil Code and bring it in line with societal changes in the twentieth century.
