Ciudad Trujillo

Ciudad Trujillo was the name of the capital of the Dominican Republic from 1930 to 1961.

The city was originally known as Santo Domingo, but after it was almost entirely demolished by a massive hurricane in 1930 it was rebuilt, and re-named "Trujillo City," in honor of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, who was dictator at the time.

In 1961 Trujillo was assasinated, and the city returned to its original name.
