Chuck Palahniuk

Chuck Palahniuk (born in Pasco, Washington on February 21, 1961) is a novelist living in Oregon.

The characters in Palahniuk's works are people who have been marginalised in one form or another by society, and who react with often self-destructive aggressiveness. The protagonists are always men, with women playing slightly secondary roles. The narrative of Palahniuk's books starts at the temporal end, with the protagonist recounting the events that led up to the point which forms the beginning of the book. Palahniuk's writing style is one of short sentences, repetition and of cynical and ironic humour.

The film rights to Survivor have been sold, but no movie studio has commited itself to cinematizing the novel. This is due to the fact that the protagonist of Survivor kills himself by crashing a civil airplane into the ocean. After the attacks on The Pentagon and World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 the movie studios have apparently deemed the novel too controversial.
