Christy Mathewson

Christopher Mathewson (1880-1925), baseball pitcher. Had a 17-year career mostly with the New York Giants. Born into a wealthy family, Mathewson attended Bucknell University, but immediately after graduation signed with the Giants. He would become one of the first five players admitted to the United States Baseball Hall of Fame.

Christy Mathewson died at the age of 45, after suffering from tuberculosis he had contracted during World War I. He is buried at Lewisburg Cemetery in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
