Christian rock band

A Christian rock band is a rock band that makes a point of the Christian beliefs of its members. Often, the lyrics of the songs mention God specifically or have lyrical content that is compatible with a Christian theology.

Some people use this label to describe only those bands in which the lyrical content and purpose are Christian while for others simply having Christian band members is sufficient to merit the label. A rock band that is not made up of Christians but has lyrics which are compatible with the Judeo-Christian worldview may be incorrectly labeled as a "Christian rock band". Some traditional conservative Christians maintain that rock music and being a Christian are mutually exclusive and this has historically been a point of contention between members of different generations.
