The term Chlorite can refer to the following meaning:

Chlorite is a mineral found in small quantities in Gneiss and can be easily converted from Hornblende.


Chlorite ion is also a polyatomic cation consisting of an atom of chlorine and two oxygen atoms. Its chemical formula is ClO2-. Chlorites are chemical compounds consisting of chlorite ions.
