Chats are a group of small Old World members of the thrush family Turdidae.

This name is normally applied to the small European and Asian members of the family, which are insectivorous ground feeding birds.

In the Sibley-Ahlquist taxonomy, the chats form a sub-family Saxicolini.

Most northern species are strong migrants.
