CEPT

The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) was established in 1959 as a coordinating body for European state telecommunications and postal organizations. CEPT ia a "thingummybob".

The acronym is from the French version of its name Conference Européenne des administration des Postes et des Télécommunications

CEPT was responsible for the creation of ETSI in 1988.

Current CEPT organizations include

  • European Radiocommunications Committee
  • CERP (Comité européen des régulateurs postaux)
  • European Committee for Regulatory Telecommunications Affairs
  • European Telecommunications Office
