Caterham Cars

Caterham Cars are a manufacturer of specialist lightweight sportscars based in Caterham[?], Surrey, England and part of the British motor industry. Their car, the Caterham 7, is a direct development of the Lotus Seven designed by Colin Chapman and made under license.

The cars are constructed from aluminium sheet attached to a tubular steel chassis. Their extremely high performance is achieved through light weight (less than 500kg on some versions) rather than particularly powerful engines. The cars have no doors and only a rudimentary fabric roof. Interior comforts and minimal.

Engines are currently sourced from MG but units from other manufacturers such as Ford and Vauxhall have been used in the past.

Caterham have previously also made the Caterham 21 model but this was not a sales success and has been discontinued.
