Cartmel Priory

Cartmel Priory, at Cartmel[?], Cumbria in the north of England, was founded some time between 1189 and 1194 by the Augustinian Canons and dedicated to Saint Mary the Virgin[?]. The building of the abbey church continued on and off into the 16th century, when the choir screen was constructed. The priory was dissolved in 1536.
