Carrier Sense Multiple Access is a media access technique used in a number of network technologies.

  • The ALOHAnet wireless network used pure Carrier Sense Multiple Access
  • Original shared-ether Ethernet uses Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD)
  • IEEE 802.11 uses Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA)
