Carlsbad is the traditional English name for the city and spa townKarlovy Vary in the western part of the Czech Republic. The city is named after Charles IV, who visited the place
in the 1370s. It is historically famous for its warm wells (73° C) and warmed-up river Teplá[?], it is nowadays maybe more well known for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In German and Swedish, the city's name is spelled Karlsbad.Carlsbad is also the name of a city in California.
