Carl Spitzweg

Carl Spitzweg (February 5, 1808 - September 23, 1885) was a German painter and poet.

He was born in Munich as the second of three son of Franziska and Simon Spitzweg, a wealthy merchant. Carl was supposed to become a pharmacist, which he did.

His later paintings and drawings are often humourus and eccentric portraits.

Spitzweg dies 1885 in Munich of a stroke.
