Capron is a town located in Southampton County, Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 167.

Geography Capron is located at 36°42'39" North, 77°12'6" West (36.710770, -77.201726)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 167 people, 72 households, and 45 families residing in the town. The population density is 403.0/km² (1,036.0/mi²). There are 79 housing units at an average density of 190.6/km² (490.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 72.46% White, 27.54% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 72 households out of which 26.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% are non-families. 36.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 3.04.

In the town the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
