Cantwell is a town located in Denali Borough, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 222.

Geography Cantwell is located at 63°23'17" North, 148°54'1" West (63.388000, -148.900204)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 307.5 km² (118.7 mi²). 306.3 km² (118.3 mi²) of it is land and 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.40% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 222 people, 102 households, and 59 families residing in the town. The population density is 0.7/km² (1.9/mi²). There are 178 housing units at an average density of 0.6/km² (1.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 65.32% White, 0.45% African American, 22.52% Native American, 1.80% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.90% from other races, and 9.01% from two or more races. 1.35% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 102 households out of which 25.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.1% are married couples living together, 8.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.2% are non-families. 33.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family size is 2.80.

In the town the population is spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 4.1% from 18 to 24, 37.4% from 25 to 44, 30.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 111.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 114.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $43,750, and the median income for a family is $39,792. Males have a median income of $55,625 versus $17,500 for females. The per capita income for the town is $22,615. 2.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
