Camden County is a county located in the U.S. State of Georgia. As of 2000, the population is 43,664. The county's county seat is Woodbine, Georgia6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,027 km² (783 mi²). 1,631 km² (630 mi²) of it is land and 395 km² (153 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 19.50% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 43,664 people, 14,705 households, and 11,381 families residing in the county. The population density is 27/km² (69/mi²). There are 16,958 housing units at an average density of 10/km² (27/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 75.04% White, 20.11% African American, 0.49% Native American, 1.01% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 1.37% from other races, and 1.88% from two or more races. 3.63% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 14,705 households out of which 46.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.20% are married couples living together, 11.70% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.60% are non-families. 17.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.22.

In the county the population is spread out with 31.70% under the age of 18, 12.90% from 18 to 24, 33.90% from 25 to 44, 16.30% from 45 to 64, and 5.20% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 107.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 108.50 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $41,056, and the median income for a family is $45,005. Males have a median income of $31,582 versus $22,104 for females. The per capita income for the county is $16,445. 10.10% of the population and 8.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 11.30% are under the age of 18 and 15.70% are 65 or older.
