Calcium oxalate

Calcium oxalate is a chemical compound that forms needle-shaped crystals. Large quantities are found in the painfully poisonous plant dumb cane. It is also found in rhubarb leaves, and (in lower amounts) in spinach. Calcium oxalate can cause kidney stones.
