Cache County, Utah

Cache County is a county located in the U.S. State of Utah. As of 2000, the population is 91,391. It was named for the fur stashes made by many of the Rocky Mountain Fur Company trappers[?]. Its county seat is Logan6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 3,038 km² (1,173 mi²). 3,016 km² (1,165 mi²) of it is land and 22 km² (9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.73% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 91,391 people, 27,543 households, and 21,015 families residing in the county. The population density is 30/km² (78/mi²). There are 29,035 housing units at an average density of 10/km² (25/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 92.23% White, 0.38% African American, 0.58% Native American, 1.98% Asian, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 3.31% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. 6.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 27,543 households out of which 43.60% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.40% are married couples living together, 7.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.70% are non-families. 14.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.24 and the average family size is 3.59.

In the county, the population is spread out with 31.30% under the age of 18, 22.20% from 18 to 24, 25.70% from 25 to 44, 13.70% from 45 to 64, and 7.20% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 24 years. For every 100 females there are 97.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.80 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $39,730, and the median income for a family is $44,453. Males have a median income of $32,397 versus $21,079 for females. The per capita income for the county is $15,094. 13.50% of the population and 8.00% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 9.80% are under the age of 18 and 6.20% are 65 or older.
