Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 91.0 km² (35.1 mi²). 51.0 km² (19.7 mi²) of it is land and 40.0 km² (15.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 43.94% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 654 people, 312 households, and 208 families residing in the township. The population density is 12.8/km² (33.2/mi²). There are 794 housing units at an average density of 15.6/km² (40.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 95.11% White, 0.00% African American, 3.36% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.38% from two or more races. 0.31% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 312 households out of which 13.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% are married couples living together, 3.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% are non-families. 30.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
