The racial makeup of the city is 96.46% White, 0.10% African American, 0.82% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.54% from other races, and 2.03% from two or more races. 1.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,718 households out of which 26.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.8% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% are non-families. 35.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
