Buchanan is a city located in Stutsman County, North Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 77.

Geography Buchanan is located at 47°3'46" North, 98°49'42" West (47.062680, -98.828245)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 77 people, 27 households, and 19 families residing in the city. The population density is 371.6/km² (980.9/mi²). There are 29 housing units at an average density of 140.0/km² (369.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 27 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% are married couples living together, 3.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% are non-families. 22.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.85 and the average family size is 3.47.

In the city the population is spread out with 31.2% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 41.6% from 25 to 44, 10.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 120.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 112.0 males.
