Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania

Bryn Mawr is located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania just west of Philadelphia between Norristown, New Jersey[?] and Camden, New Jersey, along "Highway 30" on the banks of the Schuylkill River[?] near the New Jersey state line. As of the 2000 census, it had a population of 4,382.

Bryn Mawr is home to Bryn Mawr College.

Geography Bryn Mawr is located at 40°1'16" North, 75°19'1" West (40.021022, -75.316901)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 4,382 people, 1,404 households, and 525 families residing in the town. The population density is 2,728.9/km² (7,033.7/mi²). There are 1,481 housing units at an average density of 922.3/km² (2,377.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 78.57% White, 10.43% African American, 0.09% Native American, 7.30% Asian, 0.32% Pacific Islander, 1.00% from other races, and 2.28% from two or more races. 2.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,404 households out of which 13.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 26.8% are married couples living together, 8.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 62.6% are non-families. 41.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.07 and the average family size is 2.79.

In the town the population is spread out with 8.4% under the age of 18, 48.1% from 18 to 24, 21.0% from 25 to 44, 12.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 22 years. For every 100 females there are 46.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 42.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $47,721, and the median income for a family is $66,369. Males have a median income of $40,625 versus $31,618 for females. The per capita income for the town is $23,442. 21.7% of the population and 5.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 23.6% are under the age of 18 and 2.5% are 65 or older.
