Bolventor

The small village of Bolventor lies in the heart of Bodmin Moor. Daphne du Maurier chose Bolventor as the setting for her novel of Cornish smugglers Jamaica Inn[?] . The original coaching house Jamaica Inn[?] that inspired the novel has stood there since 1547.

The village is said to take its name from the "Bold Venture" that it must have appeared to build a farm in this moorland.
