Blonde on Blonde is a
folk rock album by
Bob Dylan, released on
May 16,
1966 (see
1966 in music). The album was a critical success, generally, though
folk music purists continued to protest Dylan's fusion of folk with
rock and roll.
Blonde on Blonde, the third album-length mixture of the two genres (after
Highway 61 Revisited and
Bringing It All Back Home), is widely considered the best of Dylan's rock-oriented efforts.
Blonde on Blonde peaked at #9 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart (North America).
