Black Star

In the early part of the 20th century, Marcus Garvey created a shipping line called Black Star to repatriate African-Americans to Africa.

In the 1990s, rappers Mos Def and Talib Kweli formed a group called Black Star and released one album together, Black Star. Though Black Star achieved little commercial success, they (and other members of the Native Tongues Posse) helped shape underground, alternative rap. Both have gone on to greater commercial and critical success in separate solo careers.
