Blacklick Township, Pennsylvania

Blacklick Township is a township located in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 2,200.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 80.7 km² (31.2 mi²). 80.6 km² (31.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.19% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,200 people, 833 households, and 638 families residing in the township. The population density is 27.3/km² (70.7/mi²). There are 897 housing units at an average density of 11.1/km² (28.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.59% White, 0.05% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 0.27% from two or more races. 0.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 833 households out of which 29.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.1% are married couples living together, 9.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% are non-families. 19.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 3.03.

In the township the population is spread out with 21.5% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 103.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.8 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $31,504, and the median income for a family is $34,777. Males have a median income of $27,885 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the township is $14,244. 9.8% of the population and 10.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 11.9% are under the age of 18 and 8.1% are 65 or older.
