Rajneesh

The Sanskrit word Bhagwan[?] means "Blessed one" (historically, it is used by many spritual masters in India include Gautama Buddha); Shree (more commonly transliterated as Shri or Sri) is roughly equivalent to the English word "Lord". Thus, among those who disagree with his claim to be God, he is most commonly referred to simply as Rajneesh.

The name "Osho" has since been trademarked. Osho explains it comes from "Oceanic", but "Osho" in Zen tradition is used to call a spritual master. For example "Osho Bodhidharma".

Osho has born in 11th of December 1931 at a small village in India, Kuchiwada. When he has born the Indian Astrologer said that he may die before seven years old according to the birth chart. His parents asked the way to avoid his death, and choose to send him to mother's parents until Osho becomes seven years old. Parents sent him to his grand parents and they did not see him for seven years.

Osho explains that this was a great happening for his growth. Because his grandmother tried to give him freedom and respect as much as she can, and she forced same way to all other people includes her husband who is his grandfather. Osho explain that she had very sensitive observation and intelligence. So, Osho was left wild without educated or without being forced. Even grandmother was fighting with her husband to keep Osho as wild being.

Osho explains that all the children is being destroyed before seven years old by being forced, being ignored his dignity. And in the better world, it should be opposite and children should be respected. People can learn from the children which they have forgotten. If the child is allowed for first seven years, it is enough. In seven years, he will grow in his strength, he will have enough intelligence to decide, to discuss.

This was what happened to Osho according to Osho. When he enter the first school, he could discuss with his teacher who was forceing too many things to children, and he won. Also he explains that if the child could receive respect, the child will listen to the parents more carefully. If parents ignore child's individuality, child also try to ignore parents.

After seven years old, Osho went back to his parents house. Osho explain that he could receive similar respect from his grandfather, his father's father living with them. His father was trying to force him but he was strong and intelligent enough and his grandfather was supporting him, too.

Osho said that the grandfather was telling him "I know you are doing right thing. Everybody may tell you that you are wrong. But nobody knows which situation you are. Only you can decide in your situation. Do whatsoever you feel it is right. I will support you. I love you but remember I am not only loving, but I respect you". Osho explain that he could tell everything to his grandfather. He did not hide anything to him. He could not tell lie at least to his grandfather.

After many years, when his grandfather was dying, his grandfather gave the last word to him. "I can not support you like same way I was doing. And you need the support. So, remember wherever I am, I love you and I respect you. Whole world may against you but I am on your side. Don't be afraid.".

In 1953, 21st of March, when Osho was 21 years old, Osho explain that he got spiritually enlightened. It was the day of full moon. After this happening, he said he went out to the garden and sitting under the bodhi-tree (bo-tree).

In 1981, Rajneesh came to the United States and settled for several years at a ranch in Wasco County, Oregon previously known as "The Big Muddy", but later renamed Rajneeshpuram[?]. Disagreements over zoning rules and building codes in the beginning continued to escalate between not only his followers and the inhabitants of Wasco County, but eventually with the rest of the state. His followers, known as Rajneeshes, settled en bloc in Antelope, Oregon and were able to elect a majority of the town council. Comments by his public spokeswoman, Ma Anand Sheela[?], only increased tensions, and were not helped by Rajneesh's vow of silence. When the Rajneeshes subsequently recruited homeless people from across the United States to settle at Rajneeshpuram, it was widely seen as an attempt to use the ballot box[?] to seize control of Wasco County. But perhaps the most bizarre turn of events was when an outbreak of salmonella in a salad bar at a restaurant in The Dalles was traced to the acts of his followers. About this time, Sheela was removed from her post in the Rajneesh's service, and shortly afterwards left for Germany.

This chapter finally ended in 1985, when Rajneesh was arrested in North Carolina as he was fleeing the U.S. On October 23, 1985, a federal grand jury in Portland, Oregon had secretly indicted Rajneesh, Sheela, and six others of his followers for immigration crimes. Two days later, a Wasco County grand jury returned indictments against Sheela and two others, charging them with the attempted murder of Swami Devaraj, the Bhagwan's personal doctor. Rajneesh entered an "Alford plea," also called a no-contest plea, and was given a suspended sentence on condition that he leave the country.

Osho was claiming that he was poisoned in the jail and he left his body after 4 years after the arrest, while he he was just 59 years old. His ash is placed in his last home place, Pune in India.
