Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 96.0 km² (37.1 mi²). 96.0 km² (37.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.03% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,420 people, 559 households, and 423 families residing in the township. The population density is 14.8/km² (38.3/mi²). There are 644 housing units at an average density of 6.7/km² (17.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.24% White, 0.28% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. 0.56% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 559 households out of which 31.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.2% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.3% are non-families. 20.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
