Benedict is a city located in McLean County, North Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 53.

Geography Benedict is located at 47°49'50" North, 101°4'58" West (47.830522, -101.082700)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 53 people, 22 households, and 13 families residing in the city. The population density is 81.9/km² (210.7/mi²). There are 27 housing units at an average density of 41.7/km² (107.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 100% White.

There are 22 households out of which 27.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.1% are married couples living together, 4.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.4% are non-families. 27.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.79.

In the city the population is spread out with 18.9% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 22.6% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 32.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 120.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $32,188, and the median income for a family is $10,625. Males have a median income of $36,250 versus $16,250 for females. The per capita income for the city is $22,303. 21.9% of the population and 40.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 50.0% are 65 or older.
