Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,773 people, 751 households, and 504 families residing in the village. The population density is 237.7/km² (615.9/mi²). There are 799 housing units at an average density of 107.1/km² (277.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.82% White, 0.23% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. 0.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 751 households out of which 30.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.5% are married couples living together, 10.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.8% are non-families. 29.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.93.
