Bee County is a county located in the U.S. State of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 32,359. Its county seat is Beeville6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,280 km² (880 mi²). 2,280 km² (880 mi²) of it is land and 0 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.02% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 32,359 people, 9,061 households, and 6,578 families residing in the county. The population density is 14/km² (37/mi²). There are 10,939 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (12/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 67.85% White, 9.90% African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 19.15% from other races, and 2.13% from two or more races. 53.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 9,061 households out of which 37.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.90% are married couples living together, 14.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.40% are non-families. 23.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.90% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.25.

In the county, the population is spread out with 23.40% under the age of 18, 13.30% from 18 to 24, 35.40% from 25 to 44, 17.80% from 45 to 64, and 10.20% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 148.40 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 164.90 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $28,392, and the median income for a family is $32,967. Males have a median income of $26,473 versus $20,666 for females. The per capita income for the county is $10,625. 24.00% of the population and 19.70% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 33.80% are under the age of 18 and 18.30% are 65 or older.
