Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,748 people, 686 households, and 432 families residing in the town. The population density is 16.1/km² (41.7/mi²). There are 806 housing units at an average density of 7.4/km² (19.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 80.32% White, 0.29% African American, 11.61% Native American, 1.03% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 1.03% from other races, and 5.61% from two or more races. 1.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 686 households out of which 36.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% are married couples living together, 8.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.0% are non-families. 26.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
