BBC Light Programme

The BBC Light Programme was a radio station aimed at mainstream light entertainment and music. It started on July 29, 1945 and closed at 02:02 on September 30, 1967. At 05:30 on the same day it was replaced by Radio 1 and Radio 2 (the latter being the renamed Light Programme). The first nationwide edition of The Archers was heard on the Light Programme, on January 1, 1951.
