Battle of the Ironclads

The Battle of the Ironclads, an 1862 battle of the American Civil War, is most noteworthy for being the first battle to feature two ironclad vessels in opposition. Details of the battle can currently be found on the separate pages for the two participants, the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia (USS Merrimack).
